Welcome... FLYBALL!

flyball1Well, Spring has “sprung” and a young dog’s fancy (or even older dog’s for that matter) turns to …FLYBALL!!!

If you want to see a bunch of excited happy dogs and their families together, just go to an agility event. Agility events such as flyball and lure coursing have become very popular ways to get families and their dogs out in the sunshine and having fun together. This is also another avenue to get your dog more socialized and feeling good about performing a rewarding task. Think of it this way: If you are a smart energetic creature and your activities were mainly daily walks and dog parks… wouldn’t it be a thrill to have an activity that lets you run around chasing and retrieving something and your pet parent acts like you’re “WONDER DOG?”

And you should see them go! If you’ve ever seen one of these events, you might think, as I did initially, that this was only for dogs that had alot of formal training. But it looked like such fun, I wanted to find out more. Sure enough, with a few classes and some very basic training to get a dog’s attention, Jack and I were on our way to joining the team.

Here’s more about such teams...

flyball2Ballistic Racers Flyball Team
Ballistic Racers is a brand new flyball tam located in San Diego. Started in September of 2007 by veteran handlers Brian and Joanne Matsumoto, Ballistic Racers is a competitive flyball team originated to promote fun and fairness. Our team is a mixture of seasoned veterans, intermediate and novice handlers who enjoy working with their dogs and other handlers. Whether racing at tournaments, practicing, or doing flyball demonstrations, we really enjoy performing with our dogs. We are interested in being competitive at tournaments and “giving back” to the San Diego Community by performing our “Demos” at special events.
Come and check us out! You might just have to “GO BALLISTIC”. www.ballisticracers.com.
